Description

It is common for Blaan weavers to cut the sleeves, upper bodice, and shoulders of the albong or women’s blouse from a single woven fabric. The blouse is dyed in dark blue and beaded with small discs made of cut mother-of-pearl or takmun. The hand-cut beads and paler cloth indicate this example as the older of the two albong takmun in the museum’s collection.
