Lanao del Sur
49.5 x 43 cm
This wooden spooler served as a rack for preparing thread and yarn for weaving, one of the many rich traditions of the Maranao. Its body is intricately painted and carved, especially its cutout decorative border showing a symmetrical okir (curvilinear) design.
