Calatagan, Batangas
Terracotta
Archaeological Materials
Excavated from one of the 11 burial sites in Batangas in 1958, this clay vase was generally believed to have been a vessel for liquid, like water. In the early times, water obtained from wells was for drinking and household use.
This earthenware was donated by the Spanish-Filipino artist Fernando Zobel to Ayala Museum in 1980.
